STRAINERS
Strainers are designed to remove unwanted particles from liquids primarily to protect piping equipment, such as pumps, meters, and valves, from damage. There are various types of strainers available, depending on the application and connection method.
One key feature is that the mesh of the strainer are designed to be easily removable and cleanable. Mesh sizes are available in a wide range for various mediums.
Basket Strainers with Drain and Vent
- Material: Carbon steel A106 Gr.B / ASTM A234 WPB
- Connections: Flanges 150 and 300 LBS
- Screen: Stainless steel AISI 304
- Perforation: Perforated plate 8 mm + mesh opening 0.5 mm, wire 0.3 mm
- Standard: NACE MR 0175
Fabricated ‘T’ Strainers
- Material: Carbon steel or stainless steel
- Connections: Flanges according to ASME/ANSI B16.5/DIN or butt welding
- Rating: ANSI 150/300 LBS (other pressures up to 1500 LBS on request)
- Sizes: 2″ to 24″ (DN50 to DN600)
‘Y’ Strainers
Douglas Italia strainers are manufactured with a thicker wall to prevent corrosion.
The standard strainers are equipped with screens that allow operation with most fluids (steam, gas, air, oil, chemicals, etc.).
The open area of the screen ensures efficient filtration with low pressure drop.
The ratio of filter area to inlet area is greater than 3 to 1.
On request, screens can be manufactured with perforations or wire mesh different from the standard.
